Giving Back to Mother Nature!

In honour of GearedApp’s 6th birthday, as a team, we have decided to give back a little to those who have supported us on our journey. There are so many to thank, however, there is one that stood out to us. None of us would be here without her, and she needs more support more than ever before. This is, of course, our own mother nature.

In order to give back to the environment, we have decided to work towards offsetting our carbon footprint by planting trees. There are many ways to do this using different projects, however, we decided to do this through the Earth Day Network’s Canopy Project. This project not only helps us to offset our footprint but also helps impoverished communities around the world.

The trees planted through the Canopy Project reverse the impact of land degradation and provide food, energy and income to communities. This improves their sustainability, filters air and helps stave off the effects of climate change. The project also focuses on areas that are in danger of deforestation, like the Amazon rainforest.

Today we have committed to planting 212 trees through the Canopy Project, which will offset 1 whole year of our carbon footprint and continue to help us going forward. As well as our other environmental policies, such as recycling, cycle to work schemes and using sustainable suppliers, we are on the road to being carbon neutral.

Check out the Earth Day Network and their Canopy Project here for more information, and please do your bit and plant a tree today too!
