What did we do for Maersk Oil UK?
About the project
Inverroy Crisis Management, specialists in crisis response, approached us to find a way for members of large organisations to be notified quickly in case of an emergency. They found that it was difficult to alert a large group of people to an active incident and co-ordinate a quick response without contacting each person individually. The client they were working with to solve this issue was Maersk Oil UK, an Oil and Gas company, who must ensure the safety of many staff and be prepared to respond appropriately to crisis situations.
We created the Noticomm app, a versatile communications tool for iOS and Android devices, which allows team members to be notified directly to their phone if a crisis occurs. We opted to build a bespoke management dashboard to ensure incidents can be tended to as quickly as possible, and responses from key personnel can be efficiently tracked and monitored. This app allows large teams to share and manage information and people globally all from one easy to use app.

When building the Noticomm mobile app the focal point was building features that ensure the right information gets to the right person, as soon as possible. As a result, all of the updates and documents the staff receive in the app are relevant to their specific role. Staff can then respond with their availability and view all pertinent information, contact details and key documents relating to the incident. An embedded map also shows the exact location of the incident.
Communication in an instant
Push notifications ensure that staff receive the information they need and are notified of updates to an incident. These are managed by admin and will prompt the user to open the app and get in touch with relevant personnel.
App users can respond with their status with a tap of a button, allowing crisis staff to quickly organise their teams.
A bespoke web platform
This app allows a single person to contact and communicate with an entire organisation in case of an emergency. In order for staff to coordinate this communication, we built an online dashboard. This dashboard forms a hub for starting and managing incidents, including sending notifications to specific staff and viewing responses in real-time, sharing documents and managing users.

What this project means for Maersk Oil UK
The Noticomm platform has been launched across Maersk Oil UK, and they have successfully completed trials using the app in the field, with successful results. The platform allowed them to increase the efficiency of communication during crisis situations, cut down on staff time and co-ordinate teams more efficiently.
The wider impact of this app is that we have built a scalable platform that can be rolled out to other organisations. This means that Inverroy Crisis Management are able to complement their services and provide a digital crisis support platform for their other clients.
